Portal Master Isabel & Nicki Hoffman Refs
Look, sometimes the hyperfixation wires get crossed in a weird place and the next thing you know, you're making a crossover AU between your lost lenore gacha game from your decade-old special interest and the kids' books you've been nostalgic for. In other words, random hyperfix whims led to me creating an American Girl/Ring of Heroes crossover AU where the mainline dolls are all portal masters who get sent to Skylands, starting with the Hoffman twins! This was initially finished on April 26th, 2026.
A few notes:
- Nicki and Isabel are the effectual protags of the AU, because as the Y2K girls they effectually bridge the gap between the historical and contemporary lines. Also, I've seen fics that portray ROH's effectual protags, Eugenie and George, as twin siblings and thought that was neat so this is my spiritual way of contributing
- Their outfits are loosely modeled after Eugenie and George's portal master outfits to tie into this, along with girly Y2K fashion for Isabel and skater girl-type fashion for Nicki. I'm very proud of how I aced the "girly Y2K Eastern RPG protag" vibes for Isabel lol
- Isabel is a Magic Element specialist and Nicki is an Undead Element specialist, per a friend's ideas. I haven't decided on their titles or powers yet.
