Basic Info: Full names are Nora and Noah Dahl respectively, Norwegian, about 8-10 years old, star sign is Gemini, not particularly fussed about gender or orientation (she/her pronouns for Nora and he/him for Noah), Earth and Light Element Specialists with Nora leaning towards Earth and Noah leaning towards Light, character motifs are animals and vikings.
Family: Nora and Noah’s family consists of each other, as twin siblings, as well as their father Arne Dahl, a toymaker, their mother Idun Dahl, a carpenter, and their family’s pet Norwegian Elkhound Enok. They both love their parents very much, but also greatly adore their dog Enok, who has been with them since they were born and is just as much of a parent to them as their own parents, and Enok in turn thinks of Nora and Noah as his pups and is very protective of them.
Personality: Nora acts in the ways one would expect of a young child—curious, cheerful and always testing her limits and restrictions. She’s quite the troublemaker, always getting into things she isn’t supposed to and breaking the rules because as a young kid, she thinks they’re all stupid and pointless and would much rather have fun without the dumb grown-ups getting in her way. She’s not above picking fights with people and likes to push their buttons, and coupled with her reckless attitude, this means that more often than not she finds herself in her fair share of pickles.
Noah, by comparison, is much more polite, well-mannered and sort of an “old soul” so to speak, but extremely timid and prone to tears. He’s scared of pretty much everything, would much rather play in his room than go on big adventures, can always be found clinging to his sibling for protection, and tends to try and act as her voice of reason to keep her or them both from getting in trouble... But, unfortunately, Nora doesn’t listen, meaning that more often than not he gets dragged into her shenanigans against his will.
Life on Earth: A few years before their children had been born, a couple by the name of Arne and Idun had come to a dog shelter, looking to adopt a pet. They were shown plenty of doe-eyed puppies and spry young dogs alike, but the one they had taken to was none of those—rather, it was a healthy, but aged Norwegian Elkhound named Enok who had gone largely unnoticed as he was fairly old, and most families wanted younger dogs. They found something special in those wise old eyes, and so they took him home. Though cold at first, Enok quickly took to his loving new owners and his new home.
Then, one day, Arne and Idun came home with a surprise, a pair of babies that Enok quickly recognized as his owners’ pups—and from that day forward, they were his as well. He slept by their cribs every night when they were babies, they took their first steps clinging to his fur, and every day he’d patiently wait for them to return from school, after which they’d play and have fun until the day ended and he’d sleep by the foots of their bed till morning. In a sense, it could be said that Enok was their third parent, always looking out for them and keeping them safe the way a parent would their own children.
Arriving in Skylands and Life There: Then one day, Nora and Noah had gone outside to play with Enok, but as they played, a strange portal opened and a sharp-fanged monster emerged! The two twins were frozen in terror as the monster rushed forward and went to strike them... But it was Enok who took the blow instead, rushing forward and attacking the beast! Though it had injured him and left him bloody and weak, Enok stood his ground, knowing he had to protect his pups. He used what strength he could to chase the beast back into the portal, and Nora and Noah followed him in panic.
When the twins stumbled through the portal, however, they found not Enok but a whole den of the very same kind of monster that arrived in their yard! The terrified twins had tried to escape, but found that they were lost and the portal was gone! The monsters closed in, and with nothing else to do they screamed for help... And right then, a large, powerful lupine beast dressed in crystals had charged forward and wiped out the monsters with a single blow! Nora and Noah were terrified as the beast came for them, but instead of attacking, it just nuzzled them and promised they were safe—and in that moment, they realized that this beast was none other than Enok, who had been healed and transformed by the magic of Skylands as a response to his wish to protect the twins. Not only had Enok become a powerful beast, but he had even gained the ability to speak like a human and communicate with the twins at last, something that amazed them all. They all stayed there for a few days before being located by the Skylanders, and after the Skylanders reassured Enok that they meant no harm to the twins and could help them return home to Earth, Nora, Noah and Enok all headed back to the Skylanders’ base. Nora and Noah joined the junior portal master division, where they now spend their days going on adventures and honing their skills with Enok dutifully by their side.
Powers: Nora and Noah’s specialty when it comes to attacking is crowd control. By using their combined powers, they can wipe out entire armies in a snap through the use of light bombs, massive waves of sharp crystal and even a combination of the two that makes powerful blankets of laser light. When times get rough and the twins find themselves out of luck, however, they fall back in their secret strategy—that is, calling upon Enok and having him wipe out them enemies for them with not only his strength, but his powerful crystallokinetic abilities.
Relationships:
Enok (OC): Enok, to Nora and Noah, is practically their third parent. He’s been with them from the moment they were born, always watching over them and keeping them company, and they love him to bits and pieces—especially now that he’s big and tough and can talk. And with them far from home and their parents, Enok has taken it upon himself to act as his pups’ guardian and look out for them on Skylands no matter what happens.
Aviva (Semi-OC): The three of them are part of the junior portal master division, and thus spend their fair share of time together. Aviva and Nora are two peas in a pod, always running amuck and getting in mischief together much to everyone else’s disdain. Conversely, Noah finds Aviva a bit too outgoing for his taste, but tends to defer to her nonetheless as the older and more experienced member of their group by comparison... Even if he tends to question just how “experienced” she claims to be.
The other Portal Masters: Generally don’t really think much of the other portal masters or spend time with them that much. Nora regards them as “boring grown-ups” who are always trying to stifle her fun, but Noah holds a lost of respect for them and admires them a lot. They do spend a little bit more time with Oscar as he hands around the junior portal masters frequently because of their closeness in age, and Noah in particular thinks of Oscar as a good friend due to their similar temperaments.
Eon: Pretty much the same as how they view the other portal masters. Nora doesn’t like that he’s constantly lecturing her to be more careful and cautious, and Noah admires him the way a kid would their teacher or grandfather... But wishes that Eon wouldn’t constantly push him to come out of his shell.
The Skylanders: Both twins have their own preferences for who they hang around amid the Skylanders’ ranks. Nora tends to spend her time amid the Earth Skylanders, and can usually be found breaking stuff with Fist Bump and Smash Hit, feeding whatever concoctions she can find to Slobber Tooth just to see what happens or eagerly listening to Astroblast and Knight Light’s tales of adventure and heroism. Noah, meanwhile, is usually studying with his honorary big sister Aurora, helping out around the Academy with Rocky and Roll or learning about Skylands’ history from Crusher.
Trivia and Voiceclaims:
- Nora and Noah’s portal master attire was inspired by a pair of unused outfits for the customizable portal master avatars from version one.
- The idea of them being a pair of twins came from the outfits, with their dual Earth/Light alignment also being based on the outfits’ colors. Them having an animal companion was partially inspired by the animal motifs of their outfits and partially inspired by me being a dog owner myself.
- Their skill icon was reused and recolored from one of Zoo Lou’s skill icons.
